Over 400 entrants, some coming from as far away as Cairns and Sydney, competed in this year’s Kempsey Eisteddfod held between June 27 to July 10 at the Uniting Church, St Joseph’s Primary School and Melville High School.

The eisteddfod ran for two weeks from June 27 to July 10.
Week one saw entrants compete across speech and drama and vocal and instrumental sections and week two was the dance section.
Phillip Sketchley and Kay Flynn were the adjudicators.
Kemspey Eisteddfod Society president Karine Szita said the event was a huge success.
“We had our best year yet worth of community sponsorship , which allowed us to increase prize money and awards, which was very much appreciated by the competitors and schools entered in the competition,” she said.
“We also held our first every grand concert at the conclusion of the eisteddfod which showcased outstanding acts and routines from speech and drama, vocal and instrumental as well as dance. It was a great success.”
The society would like to thank all the volunteers and the sponsors for their generous contribution this year.
Some stand out locals were:
Jemma Edwards: Intermediate champion for vocal and also intermediate champion for instrumentals.
Emily Loveday: senior champion for speech and drama.
Soleil Szita: junior champion for vocal, junior champion for speech and drama, outstanding performer award dance, outstanding performer award vocal.
Claire Robinson: outstanding performer award speech and drama.
