“This meeting was so beneficial as many of our students are also Job Active clients and our organisations share common goals in both training and employment,” said Maureen Burke, head teacher of Education, Employment and Support, Business, IT and Creative Industries at Kempsey TAFE.
“EE&S courses at Kempsey TAFE are really a beginning pathway into training and are accessible to all people.
“Our focus is to develop foundation skills across a wide range of disciplines, then support the learner into Certificate III courses, which then meets the local Job Actives’ requirements. It’s really about supporting and understanding one another, so local people can develop their skills to get job-ready.”
Job Active providers ETC, Key Employment and Tursa Employment and Training attended the event as well as Kempsey TAFE staff including head teachers from across a range of industry sectors.
“It’s been a really useful networking event for us. It’s good to collaborate and understand what each other needs,” says Shane Gill, Team Leader at ETC.
“Getting involved with TAFE means that our clients can undertake activities to meet their obligations, get the support they need to complete their qualifications and enter specific industries that lead to employment,”
