The AFL North Coast Reserve Grade competition has been tight all season so it was no great surprise that Macleay Valley Eagles were able to be beat Coffs Breakers. What was a surprise was the margin of victory. The Breakers can't use the excuse that the reserves travelling to Kempsey whilst the other two teams headed to Grafton caused them to be light as they had 19 players on the day, one more than their opponents. It was a classic tale of youth and exuberance overcoming age and know-how with most of the Eagles players being 18 or younger. It was a team performance by the Eagles with Jake Davis, Steve Blair, George Close, Shaydan Close, and Beau Hawton sharing the goalkicking load. Macleay Valley Eagles 14.14.98 defeated Coffs Breakers 2.6.18
