ORGANISERS of the 2016 Macleay Valley Business Awards are delighted with the support received.
The Macleay Valley Business Chamber took responsibility for the awards this year, and the organising team has done a sterling job.
The response from the business community to the call for nominations has been positive, with a record 55 businesses nominated for the 2016 awards
“There is no doubt the awards do a great job of showcasing the success of our members, and highlighting the contributions made by Macleay businesses to our lifestyle and the local economy, ” said Chamber spokesperson, Bernadette O’Sullivan.
“The awards and the gala dinner itself would not be as successful without the support of our sponsors, particularly our Presenting Partner, Macleay Valley Coastal Holiday Parks,” Bernadette added.
This is the first time Macleay Valley Coastal Holiday Parks has been involved with the awards. Marketing Manager Danielle Cooney said she is looking forward to celebrating the achievements of all Macleay Valley businesses.
“The awards highlight the success and growth of local business, as well as the strong networking connections maintained with one another,” Danielle said.
“The local business community is strong, collaborative and always passionate about the Macleay Valley.”
Amanda Hudson from Holiday Coast Credit Union is also supportive, and will be back for another Macleay Valley Business Awards night in 2016.
Last year Amanda and her HCCU team took out the Excellence in Business Ethics award, which recognises an outstanding business able to demonstrate success while acting in an ethically responsible way.
The team went on to win the NSW Business Chamber Regional Award for Excellence in Business Ethics.
In the lead up to the 2016 awards dinner, the Macleay Valley Business Chamber would also like to acknowledge the support of the 2016 Corporate Partners, Supporting Partners, Member Partners and Media Partner The Macleay Argus.
“In 2016 we have a broad cross-section of the business community involved. This is a time to celebrate the spirit of the Macleay Valley,” Bernadette concluded.

RSL Club to host awards ‘night of nights’
It is a night to ‘frock up’ or put on a shirt and tie, and enjoy the celebrations and the fine food and wine on offer.
For award front-runners, the dinner also brings to an end the tense wait to find out who will take out this year’s awards.
The chance to hold aloft one of those coveted glass trophies is one many business people aspire to.
“There is always a wonderful atmosphere of cooperation and camaraderie at the awards dinner,” said Business Chamber spokesperson, Bernadette O’Sullivan.
“The dinner also provides those present with a great opportunity to network, and to get to know other local business owners and managers.”
“The gala dinner and the awards themselves wouldn’t be as successful without the support of our sponsors, and our Presenting Partner, Macleay Valley Coastal Holiday Parks (MVCHP), in particular.”
For the Kempsey Macleay RSL Club team, the awards dinner gives them the chance to roll out the red carpet and welcome the local business community in style.
“The Kempsey Macleay RSL Club is both honoured and pleased to be involved in this year’s Macleay Valley Business Awards,” said Club Secretary-Manager, Daniel Abela.
“There are so many hard working, enthusiastic business owners in the Valley.”
“It is great to see them all band together and acknowledge each other’s achievements.”
“Kempsey Macleay RSL Club would like to congratulate everyone that has been nominated this year.”
“I hope all involved have an enjoyable evening.”
Bernadette O’Sullivan has been impressed with the way in which the RSL club staff have worked cooperatively with organisers to ensure the gala dinner will once again be a success.
“Daniel Abela and his staff have been great, and have really bent over backwards to ensure the event will be an enjoyable night to remember.”
Applauding local business leaders
A DIVERSE range of business owners, managers and entrepreneurs will gather in Kempsey on Saturday night to recognise the contribution local business makes to the Macleay Valley community.
The awards also acknowledge the people going above and beyond in providing exceptional customer service in our region.
“I am heartened by the wide range of businesses taking part in the awards in 2016,” said organiser Bernadette O’Sullivan.
Kempsey Shire Council’s Manager of Economic Sustainability, Susannah Smith, said the council was thrilled to support the showcase of successful local businesses.
“The Awards and the presentation event are not only a way to recognise those businesses achieving success, they are also a way for businesses to learn from each other and expand their networks,” Ms Smith said.
“Council is proud to sponsor the award for the Food Bowl category and congratulates the Macleay Valley Business Chamber on coordinating the awards program and presentation.”
