The 17-year-old, who fights through the Kempsey Amateur Boxing Club at Hudson’s Gym, joined other promising young boxers from around the country, with 250 bouts fought from August 25 to 28.
Lewis’ father Gordon said that Lewis bounced back strongly in the third and final round of the fight for the gold medal.
“He went really well, he came back really strong,” Gordon said.
“It was a good experience for him.”
Gordon encouraged other Kempsey locals to take up the gloves and join the gym.
“It’s good discipline and good fitness,” he said.
Earlier this year Lewis won the 'fight of the night' at the Wauchope Fight Night on June 11.
