It will be a strong team with a good mix of experience and fresh blood with all councillors from last term who stood being re-elected, and two fresh faces to add new ideas and a different community perspective.
I would like to pay tribute to the significant contribution made by former councillors, Lou Kesby and Betty Green, two Macleay Valley stalwarts who have worked tirelessly over many years to make the Macleay a better place to live and work.
As I look back on the last four years I am proud of what the Macleay Valley community as a whole has achieved. But as a Council and a community it’s so important that we continue to consolidate the positive changes we’ve achieved and build on them to deliver an even brighter future for the people of the Macleay.
I’m keen to see our new Council work alongside the community to direct our energy into creating a vibrant and prosperous future. Together, we need to tackle the social, economic and infrastructure issues, so that our valley becomes a place that people are proud to call home and visitors will want to stay.
On a personal note, I’m honoured that you have put your faith in me to represent the valley that I love so much, for another term.
My commitment to you is that I will work hard, fiercely protect our Shire’s reputation, and will strive to lead a cohesive team of Councillors who work effectively with the organisation and the community to make a real difference.
Thank you Betty Green for your service to our community
- Mayor, Liz Campbell
