Their declining membership resulted in the Rats only having a full team in the Mixed Division but the South West Rocks Dragon Boat side, the Dragons On The Rocks are in a similar predicament and the two clubs merged for the women’s and men’s divisions.
The men’s side dug deep to be victorious with only 7 men out of a possible 10 in their boat, whilst the women were just as strong as they claimed victory by a short margin, as a photo finish was required.
There was 12 clubs competing on the day and it is a huge effort from both clubs, with the blending of the Rats and the Rocks proving to be a successful alliance.
The Kempsey Macleay Drgaon Boat Club will be having a "Come & Try Day" on Saturday October 8 from 9:30am to 12:30pm at the boat ramp Riverside Park.
