It can be said, in real Aussie terminology, that Jack Tolman is a quiet sort of bloke and he achieved plenty by winning last Tuesday's Kempsey Veterans Golf Club single stableford competition.

A late finisher, Jack handed in his scorecard that revealed a very handy 36-point round which equalled an already submitted total by B-grade teammate John Terlich.
Officials went quick into the countback procedure and the end result was a deserved victory and the $20 voucher joyously went to the older one of the Tolman brothers.
Sibling David (they share a cart) was content with his new Srixon reward for a round of 32 points!
Terlich, too, has a new ball and, like Jack, will be playing off a much lower handicap today courtesy of the natural enquiry by the Club's handicapper, Peter Mercer.
What a miracle it is to see Peter making an amazing recovery from his serious setback (medical) and his fellow members are astounded to see him back on course.
"Isn't it good to see good people come good," I say in meaningful terms.
In A-grade it was our captain, Robert Dykes, leading the way with 33 points and the man himself was sort of embarrassed when performing the day's awards presentation.
But Robert did congratulate himself and I think the words brilliant and popular were used when describing his round.
He did not have many challengers though and the change to the 16-handicap limit may well be a topic for discussion next board meeting.
In the ball competition, other than Terlich and Tolman, Stuart Vaughan (33), Greg Mayhew (31) and Frank Parsons, John Inder and Graham Irving (30) did feature, too.
Allen Doyle brightened his day with a nearest the pin double at the third and 11th holes, whilst our champion Graham Martin singled the third hole out for just one of his better shots.
Graham, nor any of his A-grade colleagues, made it onto the 11th green in one and that is surprising to say the least.
Chip-ins were performed by lesser lights Doyle and Vaughan.
In his usual rollicking address, President Alan Macdonald congratulated fellow veterans Bruce Morris and Leo Hauville for their success in the recent council elections.
The boss, too, did welcome new member Bob Garner and also pleasingly informed all that Frank Parsons (OBN) and Robert Johnston were back in force. "Terry has already handed the Globite back to Johnno," he quipped.
After completing his captain's duty, Robert advised that a 2BBB and Individual Stableford would be staged today and the 14-hole event has the front nine holes dominating.
As usual members do arrange their own partners, but visitors can be assured that our starter Brodie Clarke will perform his magic to get the field away on the scheduled 9.30am tee-off.
Sound advice is to give the Club a call on 6562 6291 to book a start and/or a cart.
