As usual there will be the array of stalls offering their “make it bake it sew it grow it” wares and the great selection of tasty foods and drinks that we have come to expect and relish.
But this month the markets will be marking Mental Health Month with a wellness expo celebrating the theme “Learn and Grow”.
The wellness expo allows you to do as much or as little as you want – Gretchen and Morena will both be running yoga classes – for children and adults.
Paul Foley will be bringing his Gentle Activity at Stuarts Point program (GASP) to Unkya for the day, proving a wonderful low impact program specifically for older participants.
There will also be a progressive strength training session incorporating balance and core strengthening, for those wanting a little more of a challenge.
Creative Arts Therapist Ruth Nolan will be speaking about her work working with individuals and groups, many of whom are survivors of trauma and will be displaying some of the works created at recent workshop that later formed a small exhibition called 'Healing Song'.
Ruth will also be hosting 'Meaning Making' – an introductory group Creative Arts Therapy workshop.
There will be a speaker from Beyond Blue sharing his journey of hope, recovery and resilience in the face of depression and anxiety and will briefly cover what Beyond Blue does and how the audience can seek help, or support a friend or family member who may find themselves in a difficult position.
A speaker from Landcare will be talking about the positive health benefits of gardening and becoming involved in community gardening projects. and will later be running a workshop on native gardens.
There will also be information about youth programs run by Kempsey family Support Services, the Baylin Hoskins Foundation, Headspace and Ready Mob.
