The new platform at Back Creek replaces a jetty, which was removed in August last year.
“Back Creek is a popular recreational boating, fishing and swimming destination for locals and tourists and this upgrade will be welcomed by the community,” Member for Oxley Melinda Pavey said, ahead of the removal of the jetty.
“Kempsey Shire Council has been very supportive of the works which are part of the NSW Government’s commitment to maintaining the state’s coastal infrastructure and supporting local economies.”
The new fishing platform was proposed to be up to 4.8 metres wide and approximately 25 metres in length and connected by a ramp to the footbridge.
