The Macksville Gift has attracted interest from wide and far, and will include 2016 Stawell Gift winner Isaac Dunmall. Also confirmed are Stawell Gift finalists Richard Hankin (2008), Tim Eschebach (2013, 2015) and Dean Scarff (2015).
The 63rd Macksville Gift carnival will start at 12.30pm with the heats of the 70m open sprint.
NSW Athletic League vice-president Michael Maher said the Macksville event was one of his favourites, and that the Gift committee led by Owen Rushton was to be commended for their organisations.
Former Gift winners and current members of the NSW Athletic League, Sam Martin and John JJ Halloran said entries for the 2016 event included the Roger Fabri Speedagility Academy, the talented and youthful Rob Hanna stable, and the outstanding Jack Newman from the Newcastle Gulliver outfit.
The action at Macksville will kick off with a 6km fun run (gold coin entry) at 8am, and be followed by a street parade at 11.30am. Other featured events include the Macksville Princesses presentation, the World Championship Banana Hurl and the now famous Gift fireworks show at 8pm.
