“My goal is to raise $10,000 from one event. I am proud of how much we have achieved but I always want the event to grow and to continue to help such a great cause,” Farley said.
The first four years has seen Farley raise more than $28,000 for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.
Every dollar that is raised over the break even amount goes towards the rescue service.
The main event has attracted the 2015 Australian champion Fraser Babbington from New Zealand, the current Australian champion Cody Heffernan and last year’s Blue Moon and former world junior bull-riding champion Luke Wicks.
There will be 40 competitors in total and each will get one ride in the heats and the top 10 scores will progress into the final where each rider will get one more opportunity to impress the judges.
The rider who progresses into the final with the highest score will be able to pick his bull of choice and there is a high possibility he will want to avoid the current Australian champion bull Hillybilly Delux which is the toughest bull in Australia to ride.
Storm Boy, Freckles Brown and Enemies Everywhere are three more bulls that will be ridden and they are also ranked in the top five in Australia.
Farley says there is a lot more to the night than just raising money for a good cause.
“We aren’t asking for a donation, we are offering the community an opportunity to enjoy a great night of entertainment that goes towards saving people’s lives.”
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is held close to Farley’s heart as it helped save his life after a serious injury and the experience led him to create the annual charity night.
Local band Stinky Cheez will be playing from 5.30pm and Santa Clause will be riding a bull on the night.
There will be a meet and greet for the riders and anyone else who would like to attend at the Kempsey RSL on Friday night at 6pm.
