The transformation of Kempsey’s Riverside Park late last year and the recent opening of the new and expanded Horseshoe Bay playground are great examples of what can be achieved when Council and our local communities work together on community projects to make our valley a place for us to enjoy and be proud of.

These two projects are special because in each case a local community group took the lead in approaching Council and were keen to join forces to get the projects off the ground.
By listening to the community’s ideas through feedback on playground design and equipment suitable for various age groups, we have created places where people can connect and feel a sense of ownership of the facilities they helped build.
The tremendous team effort on both projects by community groups, through fund raising and sourcing volunteers, local businesses and contractors to get the job done, shows the Macleay community at its best.
Both park upgrades show that by working in partnership, we have achieved something special together.
We now have two fresh and vibrant places for families and friends, locals and visitors to enjoy, and somewhere our kids can play in safe and fun surrounds.
Maintaining our roads, bridges and water infrastructure is essential to the welfare of the Macleay community.
But creating vibrant and inviting places where people can connect and feel they belong is just as important if we are to reach our goals of building a Healthy, Wealthy, Safe and Sociable community.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone who contributed, for your hard work and willingness to work alongside Council to deliver two successful upgrade projects.
We can build on the lessons learned in Kempsey and South West Rocks to create something wonderful in Crescent Head by partnering with the community as we embark on delivering the Crescent Head Master Plan.
