PAYING back a favour led Pete Farley to help raise more than $28,000 for Westpac Rescue Helicopter and organise an annual bull ride.
Mr Farley was rescued by the service after he was seriously injured by a practice pen bull that left him in a coma for more than a week.
It was then he resolved to try raise as much money as he could for the service by organising the charity bull ride.
“I figured if I could bring the best bulls and riders to the town of Kempsey, spectators from near and far would come to watch, wanting to help support the helicopter by creating a profit and helping to keep this great service (Westpac Rescue Helicopter) up and running,” he said.
Four years on and the annual Farley Brothers Charity Bull Ride is back at the Kempsey Showground on Saturday, December 3.
Gates open at 4pm with Stinky Cheez performing live from 5.30pm and the country’s best bull riders at 7pm.
Tickets are $25 per adult, children under 16 are $15 and under 5 are free.
Family passes for two adults plus two children cost $70.
This year’s event will feature "Hillbilly Deluxe" the current Australian champion bucking bull and professional bull rider Lachlan Richardson, fresh home from the bull riding world finals in Las Vegas.
Lachlan is the highest ranked Australian bull rider in the world.
The event is presented by Bluemoon Bull riding and Ray White Rural in Kempsey.
Head down to the Kempsey Showground to see the countries top professional bull riders take on Australia's fiercest bulls.
