Opinion is split on whether a number of painted rocks along Crescent Head’s Killick Creek are an artsy attraction adding to the area’s serene surroundings, or an ugly eyesore detracting from the natural beauty of the waterfront.

It’s left some members of the community concerned that, with the seasonal influx of tourists underway and set to grow around Christmas, there will be a sharp rise in the amount of rocks sporting painted murals.
While Nambucca and Port Macquarie are both renowned for the outdoor galleries stretching along their breakwalls, it’s a prospect that doesn’t thrill all the residents of the coastal hamlet at Crescent Head.
Crescent Head’s Lorraine Williams said she’d rather see the rocks remain in their natural state.
“People come here once a year, paint the rocks and off they go,” she said.
“What about the people that live here all year round and see it every day?”
Lorraine said she was kayaking when she first saw the paintings a few weeks ago.
“I prefer the creek in its natural state and wanted to alert everyone to what's happening, before the Christmas tourists arrive and decide to leave their mark too.”
“Do the residents of Crescent want this - a Nambucca or Port Macquarie style creek-side gallery?”
