The final round of the 2016 Harry Richardson Pennants between the four Macleay Clubs was held at the Kempsey Golf Club last Saturday in conjunction with the 2016 Peter Ennis Open 18 Hole Medley 4bbbb Stableford and Individual event. In all a very good field of 96 players took to the very good well groomed course of the Kempsey Golf Club. Once again a very big thank you goes to Peter for his continued support of golf at the club.

After being relegated to second place in last years Pennants behind Kempsey the South West Rocks club went one better this year by claiming the title with a score of 33 points from the four rounds and pushing Kempsey back to second place for this year with 27 points. The Beach side club of Crescent Head finished in 3rd place with 21 points and rounding out the 4th place was the Frederickton club on 15 points. A big thank you to all the players from all four clubs for your participation in this years event and we look forward to next years big event.
With such a large field on Saturday the scores were again very good with some high scores in the 4ball event. Taking out the day was the morning pairing of Veteran Dan Cater and his partner on the day Peter Hudson with a combined score 49 points. With a score of 48 points a number of pairs were forced into the count back rule with the pairing of Kimberley Butt and partner Troy Crowther who are new members to the club were awarded the runner up spot on Saturday.
In the Individual event on Saturday there was some very good scores with no fewer then 22 players on the day breaking par. But the stand out player on the day and claiming the best score on the day was Deniece Dyet ( my darling wife) with a fantastic score of 44 points for her best score since returning to golf. With so many players on the day visitors were from SWR, Frederickton, Crescent Head, Camden Haven & Lane Cove clubs for this event. On the day two players recorded eagles on par 5 holes. Andrew Watts recorded his on the 10th hole while Mathew Hamilton from Crescent Head got his on the 14th hole.
In the ball competition on Saturday players with 44 points on a count back in the 4ball event received a ball and they can be collected rom Mike in the pro shop.
With so many good scores from last weeks event all players are reminded to check their handicaps before hitting off tomorrow in the 2016 Macleay Veterans 18 hole Single stroke event for the monthly medals in each grade. All players can book in now at the club or go online to book in. On the scoreboard roster tomorrow will be the week one team of Adi Vinaikosol & Kim Beaumont.
Don't forget to book in now for the 2016 Macleay Valley Travel Open Day on Saturday December 10th. The 18 hole single Stableford event is open to all players from all clubs just ring the club now for more info about the day and other events.

A good roll-up today with a win for our secretary, Shirley, before she leaves for a holiday.
Next week will be the A.G.M. and Trophy Presentation, followed by the Christmas luncheon. Golf will continue over the holiday period and the club is hopful to see some new players.
Next week’s event will be a stroke tournament.
