The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was sent to South West Rocks about 7pm on Thursday, January 19, following reports that a 13-year-old girl had suspected spinal injuries after jumping from the Back Creek bridge.
Initial information from the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service said the girl appeared to have jumped eight metres from the bridge into the water and hit the bottom.
The helicopter met NSW Ambulance Services who had transported the teenager from Back Creek to a suitable landing site nearby.
The girl was flown to Westmead Children’s Hospital in Sydney for further assessment.
She was kept overnight, with a hospital spokesperson telling the Argus that she was discharged on Friday morning.
Low tide at South West Rocks was scheduled for about 8pm on Thursday.
