Kempsey’s world champion boxer Renold Quinlan is remaining focused in the lead up to the fight of his life against Chris Eubank Junior in London on Sunday February 5 (AEDT).
“The final days are about staying focused on the job, getting my body right, my weight down to 76.2kg,” Quinlan explained.
“Preparation has been good. Despite being in another country I have been doing the same things.
“The only difference is I stay inside for all my training, it is far too cold outside.”
Quinlan will be defending his IBO Super Middleweight title for the first time and it has been the most hyped match of his career.
“It is by far the biggest build up. It is really huge news in England. It is the first pay-per-view that ITV is showing and world champions from around the world are going to be at ringside,” he said.
“Andre Ward is the IBF, WBA, WBO light heavyweight world champion and he will commenting the fight.”
“It doesn’t phase me though. I am embracing it and I just focus on what I have to do. Once I get in the ring it is business as usual.”
Quinlan will continue to train leading up to the bout by working the gloves, running on the treadmill and maintaining his diet.
He is very thankful for the support he has received from his hometown.
“The support has been great from Kempsey and I can’t thank them enough for getting behind me,” Quinlan said.
