The little ones were tasked with a search for a ‘wanted man’ – of the gingerbread variety.
The children walked around the school asking teachers and fellow students if they had seen the gingerbread man, while they learned the location of the important places such as the canteen, the library and the school office.
Karen Hall from Schools as Community Centres, makes the gingerbread man each year to support the children in an activity to re-orientate themselves with the school and assisting them to feel more comfortable in the school environment.
Kempsey West’s new principal David Munday was happy to help his young charges locate the gingerbread man in the front office – and once found, he was carted off and carved up for the kids to enjoy.
