The Crescent Head Country Club has plans to develop between 14 and 38 two-storey villas as an over-55s village. It will be built on the land between the club and the tennis courts and on part of the existing golf course.
The community meeting was organised by six locals to inform residents on the proposal after they claimed few had an understanding of what was being touted.
The Crescent Head residents who attended the community meeting voiced their concerns with Chris Dockrill, telling the Argus they believe the location of the buildings would detract the iconic part of Crescent Head.
“Generations of people having been attending Crescent Head for decades and the caravan park to the Country Club is a picturesque location,” Mr Dockrill explained.
“The development there would destroy what thousands of people love about the town.”
Mr Dockrill said the people in attendance were all against the proposal.
“A motion was put forward by the floor and there was a vote which found everyone was unanimously in favour of preventing the development,” he said.
Mr Dockrill stressed many people aren’t against the idea of an over 55s village, but it should be in a different part of the town.
Crescent Head Country Club will hold their own community presentation on Sunday at 9.30am, when the club will look to brief members and guests on the development.
People in attendance can discuss their concerns.
