In its fourth year, the charity day managed to raise $5,500 more than Mr Bear had hoped as they ticked over the $25,500 mark.
Mr Bear began the South West Rocks Ovarian Cancer Charity Gold day in 2014 after he lost his cousin to Ovarian Cancer in 2012.
He wanted to raise funds and awareness of the disease and his love for golf steered him to creating a charity golf event.
Mr Bear’s wife Louise gave credit to everyone involved.
“The event has received a lot of recognition and huge acknowledgement has to go to the organisers, players, sponsors and community supporters,” Mrs Bear said.
Mr and Mrs Bear were invited to participate in Ovarian Cancer Australia's 15th birthday celebration at Government House Sydney in November last year and attended Parliament House Sydney on Wednesday February 22 for the NSW Parliamentary Morning Teal with Yasmin Catley, member for Swansea and the Hon. Tanya Davies Minister for Women, Health and Ageing.
The golf day has raised over $66,000 in four years.
Jane Hill, CEO of Ovarian Cancer Australia flew up from Melbourne on the day to attend the event, met with players and spoke at the presentation. She was incredibly blown away by the huge support this event has from the local community.
February is Ovarian cancer awareness month and the community are advised to be familiar with the symptoms that are commonly misdiagnosed.
Ovarian Cancer is the deadliest of all women's cancers with a very low survival rate.
Vigilance is vital to be aware of symptoms and to undergo testing and investigations in the early stages to help increase treatment options and improve chances for survival.
Further information can be obtained from the Ovarian Cancer Australia website.
The charity golf event was held on Friday February 17 and Mr and Mrs Bear would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the growth of the charity day over the last four years.
