The 2017 Macleay Argus Golf Day was held last Saturday at the Kempsey Golf Club under bright blue skies and on a very warm day.

The day was a huge success thanks to the team from the Argus for there continued support of golf at the club and everyone that helped out during the week in getting the day organised and to the team on the course a big thank you for having the course in a wonderful condition for the day.
On the day there were 83 players hit off from 7am and with visitors from Crescent Head, SWR, Cronulla, Frederickton and Wauchope the scores were again very good in the Open 18 hole Medley 4BBB Stableford and Individual event.
Teaming up on Saturday for the game was a pair of South Kempsey boys in Tony May & Graeme Dyet who combined on the day very well over the 18 hole for there total of 49 points to win the day by just the 1 points from the runner up pair in the father and son team of Wayne & Paul Hutley on 48 points.
Taking out the Individual event on Saturday in the Stableford event was Tim ( 2stroke ) Mecham with a very good round of 44 points which means Tim will be checking his handicap before hitting off in tomorrow's event. The winners were very happy on the day and thank the Argus very much for there support.
The winners of the Macleay Valley Vet Services ntp's at the 3rd hole were Mick Morrison 'A', Des Bevan 'B'. At the club sponsored 8th hole the winners were Peter Hatton 'A', Peter Ennis 'B', Leo Smith 'C'. At the K& J Meats 11th hole on Saturday the winners were Mark Keast 'A', Steve Cox 'B', Glen Coughran 'C'. At the Cellarbrations 16th hole the winners were Michael Fyffe 'B', Zachary Pritchard 'C', Deb Gardner 'L'.
In the 4bbb ball competition the winners on the day were players with 45 points on a countback which can be collected from the pro shop at the club anytime.
Tomorrow at the club is the annual Board Shorts day were all players are reminded to wear there best looking Board Shorts. The event which will be co - sponsored by Allen MacDonald and Phil Starr will be the 18 hole stroke event for the monthly medals in each grade with lots of top prizes for all players. Members and visitors wishing to play can book in on line or give the club a ring now to book your spot for the day. On the scoreboard roster tomorrow will be the week one team of Bryn Davies, Bradley Dyet & Graeme Dyet.
Don't forget to book in now at the club for the Coopers Golf Day on Thursday March 16th. The 18 hole 2 man ambrose event will see all players take to the course after the shot gun start at 10.30am on the day. For more info about the event and the day just ring Mike at the club now.
A highlight of the Open 18 hole Stableford event on Thursday March 23rd was the hole in one at the 151mt par 3 8th hole By Peter Callaghan who didn't actually see his ball disapear into hole. Peter who used his 6 iron said it was his very first hole in one so it was a special day for him, well done Pete.
