Meteorologist with weatherzone Graeme Brittain said a low pressure trough stretching from the north west to the south east of the coast was responsible for the wet weather conditions.
“The low pressure trough will linger over the north of the state for much of the week,” he said.
“We are looking at wet weather for each day with the heaviest falls likely on Tuesday although Wednesday is also forecast to be quite wet.
“The forecast is for about 40 millimetres on Tuesday with much the same predicted for the following day.”
Mr Brittain said further showers through Thursday and Friday were likely but less than earlier in the week.
“And the weekend is also likely to be a bit wet too,” he added.
Maximum temperatures will be in the mid to high 20s with minimum temperatures in the high teens and low 20s.
The nights are likely to be quite muggy, he said.
Winds and sea conditions will be relatively calm – given what was experienced in the last week.
