With the week before being a big success on the Board Shorts Golf Day at the Kempsey Golf Club golfers from all over the Macleay again last Saturday hit the well groomed fairways of the Kempsey Golf Club for the staging of the 2017 Akubra Golf Day as part of the 18 hole Single Stableford event. With the day again being a very good day for golf there were many a good score in all 3 grades. From everyone that played on Saturday and from the club a big thank you goes to Akubra for there support of golf at the club over a number of years.

Taking out the best score on Saturday and the 'B' grade was local identity and school principal Mark Morrison who I will say will be back in the top grade this week after his very good round of 43 points. After his good showing in the first round of the club's Veteran's championship on the Tuesday Steve Bates continued his fine form into Saturday with a round of 42 points as the runner up in the 'B' grade.
Returning to his best form on Saturday was Graeme Dyet in the top grade with a round of 42 points for his first victory in quite a long time playing in the last group of the day, while playing in the first group of the day at 7am Brody Clarke was the bridesmaid again with his score of 40 points.
In the 'C' grade on Saturday the winner was new member to the club Greg Roberts with a score of 42 points. With a score of 40 points Alexander Parsons was awarded the runner up prize for his round on 40 points on a countback.
The winners at the 3rd hole for the Macleay Valley Vet voucher were Brody Clarke 'A', Clem Cochrane 'B', Leo Smith 'C' & Gail Simon 'L'. At the 8th hole the winners were Kyle Moran 'A', Wayne Simmons 'B', Ben Pierpoint 'C'. The winners at the K&J Meats 11th hole on Saturday were Graeme Dyet 'A', Max Gleeson 'B'. The winners of the ntp's at the Cellarbrations 16th hole were awarded to Steve Pearson 'A', Les Booth 'B', Cheryle Cashman 'L'.
The winners of the weekly ball competition were players with a score of 37 points on a countback and they can be collected from Mike at the pro shop at the club.
Members and visitors will play tomorrow in the 2017 Millionaires 18 hole single Stableford event at the Kempsey Golf Club. All players can book in now at the club or go online to book in for your round. On the scoreboard roster tomorrow will be the week 3 team of Tony May, Trevor Hannah & Glenn Coughran.
A reminder to all players that the 1st round of the 2017 Club Championship's will be held on Saturday April 1st. On Saturday March 25th is the 2017 Macleay Valley Mowers Open 18 hole Medley 4bbb Stableford and Individual event so book in now for this big event at the club.
