With a wash out the week before and the condition of the Kempsey Golf Course fast improving thanks to the hard work of our green staff members and visitors from near and far took to the fairways last Saturday for 2017 Macleay Valley Mowers Open 18 Medley 4bbb Stableford and Individual event which saw a good field of 78 players hit off. With visitors from SWR, Crescent Head, Frederickton and Wauchope all players thanked Matt and his team for there continued support of golf at the club.

Taking out the top prize in the 4ball event was the pairing of Russell & Ben Pierpoint with a very good score of 48 points despite the very heavy conditions which saw all players use if the preferred lie through the green rule on the day. The runner up pair on the day was Phil Starr & his partner on the day Stephen Ahern with a score of 46 points.
In the Individual event on Saturday the winner with a very good score of 45 Points was Ben Pierpoint.
The winners of the Macleay Valley Vets ntp's on the 3rd hole were Col Habgood 'A', Bradley Dyet'B', Susan Woods 'L'. At the club sponsored 8th hole the winners wereRossLeopold 'A', Brent Johnson 'B'. At the K&J Meats 11th hole the winners were Mark Morrison 'A', Peter Garty 'B'. The winners of the Cellarbrations 16th hole were Ross Leopold 'A', Brent Johnson 'B', Pam Bruce 'L'.
Tomorrow at the club will see the start wheather permitting the first round of the 54 hole 2017 Kempsey Golf Club Members Championships. With tomorrow being round one the 2nd round will be held on Saturday April 8th while the final round will be held the week after Easter on Saturday April 22nd. The 3rounds of the Championships will be co-sponsored by Cetnaj, Winsome, Jabiru & Sommerville and Daley.
With tomorrow being the 1st Saturday of the month all members will be playing in the 18 hole stroke event for the 6th round of the monthly medals in each grade.All players can book in now at the club or go online to book in for this big event. On the scoreboard roster tomorrow will be the week 1 team of Adisorn Vinaikosol and Kim Beaumont. A reminder to all players that you are only allowed to play with 2 balls on the course and remember the course is still very wet so repair those divots.
On Sunday the start of the 2017 MNCDGA Pennants will be held and in the first round the Kempsey Team will have a bye. Then on Sunday April 9 the team will travel to Crescent Head for there game.
