In partnership with the Telstra Foundation, the Maker Party in a Box workshops are designed to engage kids through a range of fun, hands-on activities with computers and crafts.
Children will be able to participate in things like racing a sphero robot, building their own electro circuits, creating plant water sensors and much more.
The workshops are aimed at children in Year 3 and up.
Two sessions will be held at the library on Wednesday, April 12. The first session will be held from 10.30am until 12pm and the second session will be held from 1pm until 2.30pm.
Taronga Zoomobile’s Animals of the Dreaming tour will also be visiting Kempsey on Wednesday, April 19 from 10am.
Open to children of all ages, this informative session will be delivered by highly respected Aboriginal elder Col Hardy as well as Taronga Zoo’s education officer Ryan Dare.
Col is an award-winning country singer and the first Aboriginal person to win a Golden Guitar at the Australasian Country Music Awards in Tamworth.
He has a passion for passing on Aboriginal knowledge and culture to children, encouraging them to care for their country and its creatures.
During the session, children will be treated to stories and songs as told by Col.
They will also have the chance to meet, learn about and pat the Zoomobile’s native animals, with the aim of encouraging them to support native wildlife conservation.
Bookings for all of the upcoming workshops are essential. Please phone the library on 6566 3210 to secure a place.
