“We had a really good pre-season and have shown we are a real threat up front,” Riordan said.
“There were three different blokes who scored hat-tricks and two of those came from the midfield.”
Riordan credits the side’s unselfishness and willingness to share the ball around for their pre-season goal scoring form.
Kurt Riordan, Sam Potter and Ash Dean are returning from season long injuries suffered last season and will add depth, experience and bolster the side across the park.
Sam Applegate, Jesse Polzin and Tyler Wyatt are three juniors who will be making an impact on the first grade competition.
“We have a good mixture of youth and experience,” Riordan said.
While the Rangers attack has been close to flawless, Riordan admits there is a key area that needs improvement.
“We need to tighten up our defence a bit though, a couple of the goals we let in were soft but it should be easily fixed,” he said.
The Rangers defeated Wauchope 8-3 in the opening round of the FFA Cup a little over a month ago but Riordan is expecting a closer game.
“It was their first hit out and it was our third so we had a bit more match fitness than them. It will be a tougher game but I am confident the boys will get the job done.”
