Three local powerlifters from Paralympian Terry Giddy’s gym at Aldavilla recently competed at the prestigious invitational Matti Tikka event held at Penrith. Jaimie Clarke who also trains at Hills gym in Kempsey competed benched a first place 100Kg, a huge effort as he only weighed 58.3Kg. Jaimie also competes in disabled bench press competitions and is training hard to qualify for the Paralympics in 2020.

John Myers recently turned 61 and made a successful return from injury in the 83Kg division. John squatted 180Kg bench pressed 112.5Kg and deadlifted 215Kg to qualify for the National masters competition.
Tom Evill also competed in the 83Kg division and took first place with final lifts of squat 220Kg bench press 125Kg and deadlift of 280Kg. Evill is a former National champion and has qualified to compete in the National open championships.
