Author of the brochure Peter West will share his knowledge about bird watching skills, identification, migratory patterns, what birds feed on, survival, breeding patterns and a myriad of other information at a launch, to be held on Saturday, April 29.
Other speakers at the event in the morning will include flora bush regenerator experts, landholders and others involved in the revegetation project.
Other general Landcare information will also be available at the event.
This guide has come about from a Macleay Landcare Network project called Floodplains for the Future – Restoring and Rehabilitating Wetlands and Riparian Zones in the Macleay River Estuary, which was funded by North Coast Local Land Services ( and ex-CMA funding).
The morning will consist of presentations in the Gladstone Hall (at 5 Kinchela St, Gladstone) from 10am for a 10:30 start until midday with a short break for lunch before proceeding to Boyters Lane at Jerseyville for an afternoon’s birdwatching with Peter West and Landcare team members.
Attendees should wear suitable field attire, sun and insect protection and a pair of binoculars (if you have them) for the afternoon field event.
Macleay Landcare Network annual membership is only five dollars per year, and is a good avenue to learn about local Landcare events in the area.
