In an updated weather forecast from weatherzone, meteorologist Jacob Cronje said the showers will likely reach around 50 millimetres.
“There will be possible heavier showers at times with some sections of Port Macquarie and inland receiving up to 70mm,” he said.
The forecaster said a low pressure system sitting just offshore will be responsible for some lingering showers through this week.
“The onshore winds are pushing these rain events onto land, even though the system is actually moving offshore,” he added.
Showers are likely to continue through into Monday before a ‘bit of a break in the weather’.
Mr Cronje said coastal showers will feature for most days with about one millimetre predict for Port Macquarie.
“It could also be pretty pumpy on the waters with an impressive swell likely,” he said.
“I would advise people should start to look out for warnings for gusty coastal winds and large and powerful surf. Be vigilant – it could be pretty sustained.”
The next big rainfall will likely be around Thursday and will remain for up to three days.
Forecasts predict about 50mm of rain by Saturday.
With cloud cover for much of the week, maximum temperatures will reach around 23 degrees on most days with minimum temperatures around 10 degrees.
The coldest morning is likely to be on Wednesday with the minimum temperature at eight or nine degrees.
