A spokesman for the Department of Education confirmed that the school is currently in recess and not operating this year.
The Department said that the school had to go into recess, with the families of the students at the school last year choosing to instead enrol them in larger schools in the local area.
Millbank, which is roughly 50km west of Kempsey, has two primary schools nearby – Willawarrin Public School and Bellbrook Public School.
No staff have worked at the school this year, other than those carrying out basic grounds maintenance, according to the Department of Education spokesperson.
The spokesperson said that there had been further local consultation about the school’s future, but what will happen to the school beyond this year is still yet to be decided.
