The musical, written by Ian Taylor, chronicles the often tempestuous professional relationship of Gilbert and Sullivan.
The famous pair collaborated for 14 comic operas, and excerpts from many of these are threaded into the play, including ‘The Mikado’, ‘Pirates of Penzance’, ‘H.M.S Pinafore’, ‘The Gondoliers’, ‘Trial by jury’ and more.
Greg Taylor will direct the production and the Macleay Choral Society, under the expert tutelage of Christine Wells, will act as the chorus. Mr Taylor previously presented H.M.S. Pinafore (2013) and Cosi (2015) for Kempsey audiences.
Auditions for the nine speaking roles and additional solo singing roles will be held at the Bandbox Theatre on Thursday, May 25 at 7pm.
Singers must come with a prepared piece, including two copies of music. For more information call 6562 6805 after 7.30pm.
