The night saw the committee raise about $24,000 for cancer charities – meaning the organisation has raised a total of about $950,000 since their inception 32 years ago.
Committee president Helen Packwood said the dinner was a “fantastic night”.
“When you put the work into it and see a result like that, it’s just wonderful,” she said.
Professor Ian Brown from the Australia Cancer Research Institute was guest speaker and Helen said his presentation had the crowd captivated.
Helen, who herself is an inaugural member of the organisation, was recognised for her years of service to the group with a short presentation. However, she said the emphasis should be on the community that has enabled the group to raise so much money for cancer research.
“We want to thank the community for supporting us, it’s just wonderful how much they give,” Helen said.
