It’s true that “all eyes are on the bride” on her big day and there is a great deal of anticipation to see how the bride will look as she walks down the aisle.
Whether you want to tone up, shed a few kilos or just relieve a bit of the wedding stress and tension, exercise with a good healthy eating plan is the way to go.
Obviously the sooner you start, the more time you have to achieve the goals you have set out for yourself, but an ideal time to start is about six-months before the wedding.
Here are some tips to help you get fit and stay motivated in the lead up to your wedding.
Set some goals: Write down what you would like to achieve with your fitness program. While it’s important to work on your total body are there any areas that you want to target e.g. for a strapless gown you may want to work on your arms and shoulders. Map out how you can accomplish your goals.
Set time aside: Block out time in your diary each day for your fitness program, a good time is first thing in the morning so that work, meetings and other things don’t come between you and your workout. Exercising in the morning is also a great way to get your metabolism going and will help you feel great all day long.
Don’t do it alone: Everyone needs motivation. Enlist your bridesmaids, Fiancé or friends to get involved or if they are unreliable, hire a personal trainer or join a boot camp – some places have bridal boot camps specifically to help brides get in shape. Having a support system is one of the best ways to reach your goals and stick to a plan.
Keep it interesting: Mix up your exercise program so you don’t get bored. Try cycling, swimming, runs along the beach, tennis, going to the gym, aquaerobics, yoga, rollerskating or take your bridal party out for a pole dancing class. Just plan ahead so you have something scheduled each day.
Stay hydrated: Make sure you are drinking enough water throughout the day and during your workouts. Staying hydrated is the key to having glowing skin, good hair and bright eyes on your wedding day.
No crash diets: Instead adopt a healthy eating plan – cut out fatty food and fake sugars and eat non-processed food and plenty of greens and fresh fruits. Plan your meals for each day to avoid the need for take-away foods that don’t fit into your eating plan.
Reward yourself: It’s important to reward yourself if you are doing well. Get a massage, have a relaxing bubble bath or visit a day spa.
