The Sri Chinmoy Peace Run is travelling from Brisbane to Adelaide, stopping at towns and schools to inspire people from all walks of life to help foster a better, brighter future for all of humanity.
Mayor Liz Campbell welcomed the participants and congratulated them on their efforts.
“With so much turmoil and violence being experienced across the globe – sometimes our children are most affected,” Cr Campbell said.
“We are blessed to live in a beautiful part of the world and a wonderful community – known for its mateship and true country values.
“But we can always do more to extend the hand of friendship and cultural understanding that encourages peace and goodwill within our community.
“Today’s peace run reminds us all to stop and think of what we can do to make our community a better place to live.”
