The Rangers have proven to be the team to beat but coach Dean Riordan is surprised by their success.
“If you had of told me that we would be in this position and undefeated at the start of the year, I would have said you were crazy,” Riordan said.
“I knew we had a good and strong team but to be undefeated at this point of the season is beyond my belief.”
The Rangers had their biggest scare last week, trailing 2-0 with 20 minutes to go against Port Saints.
However, the side was able to turn the tables with stand-in captain Andrew Potter being the hero, scoring two goals to split the points with Port.
The Rangers played with six of their regular first graders on the sidelines through injury and suspension and their bad luck has continued this week.
Steven Morn went down in training and could miss up to six weeks with a thigh injury.
It isn’t all bad with Sam Applegate returning from suspension while captain Paul Thurlow is expected to overcome a hamstring injury and be included on the bench.
The Rangers are at home on Saturday against Wauchope, who have one win to their name in seven matches, and Riordan is confident his side will earn the maximum points.
“It is one of those games where we should win,” Riordan said.
“It is a tricky one, we are all ready to go and hopefully we get a goal early to help settle the nerves.”
The Rangers earned a 6-0 victory on the road against Wauchope in their meeting in round one.
First grade kicks off at 3pm.
