Bill and Pat Holden, whose home was gutted by a fire on Thursday June 8, returned yesterday with their insurance company to assess the damage.
Upon their return they found that the house had been looted, with Bill’s father’s war medals among the stolen items.
Holding back tears, Bill asked to send a message to the community for the medals to be returned as they are “extremely important” to him.
“They are a close association with my father and what he went through in the war,” Bill said.
“You can replace a house and other stolen items but the medals mean so much more, they are close to my heart and are extremely important.”
