Nationals Member for Cowper Luke Hartsuyker visited the Macleay Valley Eagles AFL Club at South Kempsey Oval and spoke with club organisers, Kevin Ackerly and Ronda Colliver, about what this will mean for their community-focussed club.
“Kevin and Ronda do tremendous work as a part of the Macleay Valley Eagles, and now this Community Volunteer Grant means they can reimburse volunteers for their fuel when they need to travel long distances,” Mr Hartsuyker said.
“They’re also purchasing cleaning equipment to keep the clubhouse clean for players and volunteers, and reimbursing volunteer coaches for the training qualifications that they need to do to coach the teams.
“These are all vital costs for a community club like Macleay Valley Eagles and I’m very pleased to see the Community Volunteer grants being put to good use.
“Kevin and Ronda, and all of the Macleay Valley Eagles volunteers, put in many hours behind the scenes to see AFL grow in our region and young people get to play the sport they love.”
The club’s management team is made up of 6 dedicated volunteers, who look after team commitments.
