The recent departure of Council’s General Manager is significant, but having worked closely with David Rawlings for many years, I am confident this is the right change, happening at the right time for both David and Council.

I wish David every success and sincerely thank him for his eight years of service to our community.
Councillors have identified the need to work more closely with the community on our vision for reshaping the Macleay.
We are also committed to reviewing and improving the organisational culture, and working towards a more efficient, customer-focused Council.
All change is difficult no matter how it comes about, but it can be exciting.
If change occurs for the right reason and in the right way, it can make a positive difference.
I’m confident this will be the case for Kempsey Shire Council.
Macleay Valley Business Awards
Congratulations to the Macleay Valley Business Chamber for the great job they did in organising this year’s Business Awards and last Saturday’s gala dinner. A huge thank you to the sponsors who supported the annual awards, which recognise the contribution made by all areas of commerce and industry to our valley.
With 105 entries – almost double the number received last year – it really highlights the increased confidence enjoyed by our business sector and within our community.
The Awards night was a fitting tribute to all the hard work, commitment and energy that goes into building and growing a successful business that benefits our entire community.
Our business community’s collective contribution shows that we’re on the right road to building an even stronger economy in the years ahead.
Congratulations to all winners and nominees in both the popular vote categories and the awards judged by the panel. Good luck to the winners who progress to the Regional Business Awards in Port Macquarie in August.
