This assistance is provided under the joint State and Federal Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).
The local government areas in the electorate of Cowper receiving NDRRA assistance from this disaster now include Bellingen, Kempsey, and Nambucca.
“It’s good news that those affected by this year’s devastating March floods in the Nambucca and Kempsey shire council areas may now be able to receive the assistance that they need,” local MP Luke Hartsuyker said.
“A total of six new local government areas in eastern NSW have been made eligible for additional relief which means that a significant portion of Cowper can now access these benefits.
“Rebuilding and cleaning after an event like the March floods can be expensive, and the NSW and Australian governments are easing the burden of this expense for our communities.
“This assistance includes funds for locals whose property was damaged, local councils to cover costs to restore damaged essential public assets, and grants to eligible non-profit organisations, among others.”
