Kids will be able to play with the ‘Maker Party in a Box’ kit which includes Sphero robots, Bee Bots floor robots and Little Bits digital inventor kits, which kids can use to create digital pianos out of bananas and an iPad to learn how to code with the Sphero ball.
Librarian Yvette McAlister said after a great response from local children from the Telstra workshop in April, the Library decided to offer similar workshops.
“Children in regional areas like Kempsey and surrounds don’t always get the opportunity to interact with technology like this and after seeing how much fun the kids had at the first workshop we decided it was something we should bring back to the library,” Ms McAlister said.
“The after school sessions are designed for kids of all abilities and skill levels - beginners to advanced and will be held twice a week to allow families to choose a day that suits them.”
The free after school sessions will commence on Thursday, July 27 and will run every Thursday and Friday from 3.30pm to 5pm during the school term.
Library staff will be on hand to assist children on both days.
