The state-of-the-art technology, called ‘ACO Virtual’, offers people a 360-degree virtual orchestra experience by projecting footage of 13 musicians onto the walls of the gallery.
The exhibit simulates the feeling of standing on stage in the middle of an orchestra as its conductor.
There is a touch-screen device that allows the operator to select the instruments and musicians they would like to hear.
You can highlight one particular musician, hear a section, or experience the whole orchestra.
If you can read music, you can choose to stream the score beneath each musician’s projection and play the music as it was intended.
You can even bring your own instrument and play along with the orchestra.
ACO Virtual runs for approximately 30 minutes on a loop, so that you can enter the installation at any time.
Slim Dusty Centre Administration Assistant Linda Coombes urged people not to miss out on this amazing experience.
“This is a great opportunity to view something unique to our area and interact with the Virtual Australian Chamber Orchestra,” Ms Coombes said.
“Don’t miss this.”
