The 2017 South Street Mufflers Golf Day was held last Saturday at the Kempsey Golf Club with a good field of 73 players hitting off on a day just right for golf. In the field were visitors from Frederickton, SWR, Massey Park and Nambucca Heads golf clubs. A big thank you goes to Ross for his continued support and we all look forward to next year’s event.

All players were playing in the August monthly medals in the 18 hole stroke event on Saturday and the scores were again very good with a number of players recording scores under par.
Taking the 'A' grade medal with a net score of 71 on a count back was Phil Star who got the nod from Wayne Binnie also with 71. Rick Nicholson was back to good form with a round of 75 to win the gross event.
Former school teacher Bob Kingdon was the 'B' grade winner of the medal for August with a very good score of a 5 under par net score of 67. The runner up was Paul Hollis with a net 69 after his morning round. With a score of 84 Kingdon also won the gross in the 'B' grade.
In the 'C' grade on Saturday the medal winner with a fantastic score of net 64 was Richard McLellan who has just returned to golf at the club. With a net 69 Peter Herivel was the runner up. Alexander Parsons was the gross winner with a round of 93.
The winners on Saturday of The Macleay Valley Vet Services ntp's at the 3rd hole were Peter Hudson 'A', Todd Watts 'B', Steve Tarbox 'C', Deniece Dyet 'L'. At the club sponsored 8th hole the winners were Graheme Martin 'A', Martin Johnston 'B', John Baker 'C'. The winners of the ntp's at the K&J Meats 11th hole were Conrad Tamblyn 'A', Murray Addison 'B', Kevin Miller 'C'. At the Cellarbrations 16th hole the winners were Rod Kinnear 'A', Peter Callaghan 'B', Nancy McNamara 'L'.
On the day there were two eagles recorded on the same hole. Graheme Martin and Brett Morrison both recorded the fine feat on the par 5 10th hole. Martin had a one put for his while Morrison got a chip in.
On the day in the ball competition players with a net 74 on a count back were awarded a ball and they can be collected from the pro shop along with any unclaimed vouchers from the weekend.
Tomorrow at the club the event will be a 18 hole 2 person Ambrose event for the 2017 Ray Metcalf Memorial Day which will be co sponsored by Phil and Mitch Starr. All intending players can book in now at the club or go online to book in for your round and all visitors are most welcome to play on the day. Tomorrow on the scoreboard roster will be the week 2 team of Chris Hudson & Robert Johnston.
The final of the 2017 4b knock out competition has been decided and the final will see the veteran pairing of Chris Hudson & Paul McNamara take on the up & coming young guns of Bradley Dyet and Zachary Pritchard. Best of luck to both pairs.
A reminder to all members that the first round of the 2017 Harry Richardson Pennants between the 4 Macleay Golf Clubs will be held on Saturday August 26th. All players wishing to play in this event can place there names on the sheet at the club now. The team is made up of 12 players (6 pairs).
