Sue-Ann Schaffer has spent the past 13 years living every parent’s worst nightmare and she is hoping someone with a conscience can help it come to an end.
“I need to know what happened to her, it is heart-breaking not knowing what happened to your little girl and I have to live with that every day,” Mrs Schaffer said.
“There are still nights when I can’t sleep and I will just lay there thinking about her.”
Ahead of what would have been Kylee-Ann’s 32nd birthday on August 24, Mrs Schaffer is hoping someone will come forward.
“People know what happened to her and I need them to be honest, I am not after any punishment, I just need to know so I have closure,” Mrs Schaffer said.
“Anyone with a heart who knows needs to come forward.
“Her father died two years ago without knowing and I don’t want the same to happen to me.”
Mrs Schaffer would particularly like anyone with information about the events leading up to her daughter's disappearance to come forward.
She has never given up hope of finding the answers she seeks on her daughter’s disappearance and even though in 2010 a coroner found Kylee-Ann was likely deceased, there was no evidence or determinant on how, where, or by whom her death was caused.
Mrs Schaffer accepts the high chances of her daughter’s death but it doesn’t make it any easier as she is after a definite answer.
Kylee-Ann’s friends told police she wandered off into bushland by herself after eating breakfast on September 11. They became worried and alerted police when she hadn’t returned at lunch time.
A huge land and air search involving police, emergency services and volunteers failed to find any trace of her. Kylee-Ann was 19 at the time of her disappearance.
