The tournament involves all schools from New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria.
Coach Emma Tamblyn knew it would be a hard task to defeat the prestigious sports school.
“We knew they were going to be a good side and very hard to beat,” Tamblyn said.
“It was an amazing experience for all the students and I am very proud of their results.”
Melville finished in the top eight across the three states and Tamblyn has reason to believe the side will make a return next year.
“We will still have half the side available next year and they are quality players,” she said.
Melville had a slow start and mistakes lead to them trailing 4-0 at half-time.
Melville improved in the second half but Hunter were the better side.
