Racing will commence at 10am on Saturday with participants competing for qualifying times before the top 10 shootout.
Sunday’s racing begins at 9.30am with two cars to take off at once at 30 second intervals.
The Kempsey 250 at Wittitrin marks the fourth round of the 2017 NSW Off-Road State Championships.
Former Kempsey resident Chris Browning, who recently won his class and finished second overall in the Australian Off-Road Championship, will make his first return to competing at the Wittitrin track since 2012.
“It is my hometown competition and I wanted make an effort to get back out there and get some good results,” Browning said.
“I have gone up a couple of classes so it will be a bit different but I am hoping to have a bit more luck this time around.”
He had car troubles in the last two times Browning competed at the Kempsey 250.
In 2011 he broke an axle while a year later he had a did not finish.
Browning competes in the Prolite division and if it wasn’t for a mishap in the opening round of the Off-Road Australian Championships, he would have finished in first place.
The Australian Championships are held over three rounds and the first event was held at St George in Queensland.
Browning’s vehicle picked up a flat tyre which cost him valuable time and ultimately the championship.
“We had limited time to recover and it cost us dearly in the long run,” Browning said.
“We lost a lot of time having to change the tyre and it resulted in us finishing in 11th place.
Browning grabbed a second place in his class at Alice Springs before rounding out the competition with a second overall and a first in his division at Rainbow in Victoria.
Entries to compete at the Kempsey 250 close on Wednesday night with Browning expecting a lot of tough opposition.
The Wittitrin track is held on Dungay Creek Road, 15-minutes west of Kempsey.
