The demolition of the old toilet block, located at the rear of the Crescent Head Surf Club, is expected to take a week to complete and will be conducted by a contracted demolition company.

Trevor Dickson, Manager of Technical and Civic Services confirmed that Council are seeking to minimise any disturbance the demolition may cause.

“A number of meetings have been held on site to plan the demolition part of the project and consider the impacts,” Mr Dickson said.

“Discussions have been held with the operators of the surf club kiosk and the caravan park to consider traffic movements, dust and noise impacts.

Every effort will be made during the demolition next week to minimise the disruption to these businesses.

“There will be some disruption to car parking and access to the boat ramp during the work.

The safe movement of residents and visitors throughout the Reserve, both on foot and in cars, is also a significant consideration of the site management.”

A representative for Council will be on site to during the demolition to monitor the work and assist in community liaison.

When the works are concluded the new amenities, car park and skate-park will be fully operational, well ahead of the upcoming long weekend and school holiday period.

“Council recognise there will be some inconvenience during the demolition and we thank the community for their support,” Mr Dickson said.

“This is the last component of the current project to refresh the Crescent Head Reserve ahead of longer term planning.

Combined with the enthusiasm of new operators in the Holiday Park, it bodes well for the summer ahead.”
