Historian and author Noeline Kyle will visit Kempsey Shire Library on Friday, September 15 at 11am to present a talk about her research and writing on women in history.

Drawing on her extensive research and writing from over 30 years of academic and popular publishing, there will be a particular focus on her latest book, Women’s Business: Midwives on the Mid North Coast of NSW.
The book, which was launched earlier this year at the Slim Dusty Centre, South Kempsey, delves into the training, careers and family lives of more than 200 midwives and the 70 hospitals they established or managed.
Noeline’s research into midwives on the Mid North Coast began in 1979 when writing a biography of her great grandmother, nurse Mary Kirkpatrick.
Noeline is a retired academic and Emeritus Professor at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and continues her passion to research and write on women’s history as an Honorary Professor at the University of Sydney.
She also continues her support of women’s local and family history through her voluntary work with local museums, historical societies, community workshops, seminars and many publications.
