In an ongoing investigation focusing on the illegal importation of MDMA, officers from the Mid North Coast Local Area Command together with the Australian Federal Police as well as the Department of Immigration and Border Protection arrested the young man in Kempsey last week.
Officers attended an address in Clyde Street, Kempsey at around 11:20 am last Thursday, where the man was taken into custody.
Police allege that the man purchased drugs over the internet.
The drugs were then imported into Australia via international mail, police say.
During a search of the man’s home officers allegedly seized 794 grams of MDMA along with a substantial amount of cash.
The young man was taken to Kempsey Police Station.
He was charged with importing a border controlled drug (x5), supplying prohibited drugs as well as dealing with the proceeds of crime.
He was refused bail and appeared in the Port Macquarie Local Court last Friday.
