Kempsey’s Jarryd Oram held off a field of 20 competitors to claim the Pro Open Title and the Pro 450 title at the 2017 NSW Senior Dirt Track Championship at Greenhill Speedway on Saturday.

The local qualified for the final in second position in the Pro Open, behind Boyd Hollis, but he worked his way to the front and held on to claim the title.

Kempsey’s James Chapman finished in second position in the Pro Open while Max Whale finished in third position as he continues to impress after only entering the senior circuit three months ago.
Other notable Kempsey finishers in the Pro Open were Sam Davies in fifth, and Nicholas Lahey in tenth.
Oram finished ahead of Chapman Pro 450 while Kempsey’s Michael Booth rounded out the podium in third while Davies grabbed fifth spot.
Meanwhile Kempsey’s young gun Jayden Holder won four of his five races to claim the 65cc 7-U11 Years title.
Macleay District Motor Cycle Club publicity officer Odette Wooderson said the day was a massive success for the club.
“It was a great day for everyone involved,” Wooderson said.
“The spectators loved the action while the participants enjoyed the competitive racing.”
The 2017 Akubra Classic winner Michael Kirkness was in contention to contest for the title but unfortunately he was injured in a crash and Wooderson expects him to be out of action for a couple of months.
